Marisa has also been a presenter on indie radio; toured, released albums and played festivals with her bands Duckdive and The Winter Migration; performed and recorded with a number of Australian artists; and had her music featured on a number of short and feature films (mostly, for some reason, in the USA).
Marisa has lived in London and Thailand, and is currently based in Melbourne, Australia - although she does have a British passport, is eligible for the E-3 visa to work in the US, and is more than willing to travel.
With a background in the arts that spans music, film, radio and theatre, Marisa is an enthusiastic, collaborative writer / producer who can easily adapt to any project.
As a producer, Marisa has been working professionally in the industry for just over ten years, largely at the helm of Melbourne-based corporate production company Ready to Roll.
In conjunction with director / post-production specialist Chris Tomkins, she also runs Octopod Films, a vehicle for their short films, music videos, and long-form content projects. (such as their most recent short film, the zombie kangaroo hit 'Waterborne). Their work has won numerous awards, been long-listed for Tropfest, and screened in over 150 festivals all around the world - including a number of Academy Award qualifying festivals.
In 2014 Marisa was an associate producer on an arthouse horror feature film in Seattle, USA; in early 2015 she was selected for the Emerging Producer mentorship program at the AIDC conference, and she is currently in development on 'Masterclass', a microbudget feature film to be shot in the first half of 2018.
As a writer, Marisa started off in the independent theatre scene, before transitioning into music and eventually shifting her sights to the world of film.
In 2016, her comedy/horror feature film 'Welcome to the Neighbourhood' was shortlisted as part of ScreenACT's new feature film program (run in conjunction with Silversun Pictures and Odin's Eye Entertainment), in 2017 she was the only writer to be accepted into the Aotearoa Script Lab (supported by the NZ Film Commission), and she recently graduated with First Class Honours from the Masters of Screenwriting at the VCA.
